In our fourth meeting we learned about
technology and training, and effective questioning. The first group was Fernando and Almira’s group, they explained some of technologies that can help us in
training. They explained it well and it seems that Almira tried to improve her
body language during her presentation, I guess she would like to practice what Lara’s group explained us last week. For their material, I was not
really think it was interesting. Maybe because of the book was produced in 2001
so the technology mentioned by the book is not up to date. All technologies
that both of them explained has been used by us in our daily teaching.
Fortunately, after discussing the technologies that we had already familiar
with, in feedback session Pak Luluk gave us some advises related to technology.
Honestly, I was rarely paying attention on them, such as coming earlier to
check the projector or computer that I am going to use for presentation, asking
or trying to know my learner at our first meeting, and trying to learn how to
fix any problem with the devices (I used to give up before trying to fix them).
The following group was explaining the
art of effective learning and it was more interesting. I learnt lots of things
that I’ve never knew before. During my teaching and learning process, I only
knew how to see whether my student is ready to answer my question or not and I
have to save their face by not asking them if they are not ready. During their
presentation, I was thinking what type of question I frequently used in my
classes, then asking to my self why do I love to ask my students opinion-based
questions. The last but not least, I learnt one wisdom sentence from Fred
during his presentation and it was rooted in my mind. He said “when we ask our
student whether they have questions or not, don’t just give them few second to
think, they need more time to reorganize and find what they haven’t understood
from our explanation”.
